Watching the daily changing ‘Light on Landscape’ really helps me celebrate the gift we have been given with this planet and the natural world around us, life is precious, lets enjoy it every day.
I am an abstract expressionist landscape painter, living rurally on the edge of the Mendips, I like to think my style is expressive and immediate, drawing on years of observing. I love the world around me and landscapes are my absolute passion. Through walking, surfing and horse riding I enjoy connecting with the rural seascapes and landscapes of the UK, whether painting ‘en plain air’, or back in the studio, I pull on all my senses to express an emotional reaction to the world around us:).

Biography
I have been working as an artist for around 30 years now. Having previously trained as a three dimensional artist, with a BA(Hons) in ceramics from Bristol, my passion for painting was nurtured through my teaching career. For the past 27 years I have taught Fine Art and I am currently Head of Faculty for the Visual Arts in a large secondary school in Bristol (PCGE). With lower school teaching I really have become a very well rounded artist with interests across all fine art disciplines but my desire to paint really took off within my teaching of A-Level Fine Art, where I enjoy helping students work on larger scale canvas’. I feel that my paintings utilise my ceramic training with my abstract, and often expressive brush strokes, behaving like glazes on the surface of a pot. And, the ever present contrast between rough and smooth in the natural world, can always be found within my work, another reference to having worked with 3D forms:)
